Rally-O
What is Rally O? What is Rally? Rally is a newer dog sport, designed to be a stepping stone from the AKC Canine Good Citizen© program to the world of obedience or agility. The canine team moves through a course at their own pace, very similar to rally-style auto racing.
A rally course consists of 10 to 20 stations, depending on the level. Scoring is more lenient than in traditional obedience. Communication between handler and dog is encouraged. Perfect heel position is not required, but there should be a sense of teamwork between the dog and handler.
A Rally O course includes 10 to 20 stations, depending on the level. A sign at each station gives instructions to the dog-handler team, and each team must execute the station's specific task. Signs instruct teams to go fast or slow, to halt, to make turns and circles, to do a sit-stay-recall, and numerous other basic obedience exercises.
